Once I remembered this Rick Springfield album cover, I knew just which CD Mr. Johnson would want to play!

Welcome! This month will be a short palette cleanser before we dive into the next long storyline. I’m going to be experimenting a little with the artwork in it, too; check out my Smeary Soapbox Press-ents blog post for a better idea of what I’m aiming at…
(Oh, and in case you missed it, there’s a brand new Watusi digest (#30!) available for your reading pleasure, too!)
Yes, I’m jumping ahead to a more … temperate time of year for Wonder Valley Weekend, ruling out the chance for a Christmas strip this year. However, if you’re jonesing for a more festive comic fix, be sure to check out Mike Sullivan’s “Last Christmas” and Brien Wayne Powell’s “A Handsome Carol.” Not only do their strips have plenty of holiday elements… but they’ll actually finish them in time for Christmas! That’s something I’d be hard pressed to do, given my Halloween comic’s run time…
Hope you have a Merry Christmas if you’re celebrating, a peaceful weekend if you’re not!
Let’s hope Watusi’s doe-eyed begging style works on Emmett … or else I’ll have to bring another character into the mix!

Happy new comic Wednesday! I’m looking forward to another issue of “Wednesday Comics” from DC … and hopefully something unexpected will catch my eye, too!
Next week: we leave Watusi’s yard (yes, I have got other locations in my repertoire) and start to get this adventure on the road!
Today I am so glad that I’m doing this comic strip, and not my former “Continuity and Vine” strip, where I would have been tempted (obliged?) to make a snide comment about “Jon and Kate Plus 8”. Instead, I get to draw a talking puppy! Hope it makes you as happy as it does me!
